KT&G (CEO Bang Kyung-man) donated ₩420 million to the Ministry of Justice
(MOJ) on Aug. 29 to support the social resettlement of individuals under
MOJ protection.
The donation ceremony was held at the MOJ office in Gwacheon Government Complex with attendees
including KT&G Chief Vice President Lee Sang-hak, MOJ Director General for
Crime Prevention Policy Lee Young-myeon, and other officials. The donated funds will be directed toward
initiatives that assist protected individuals.
This contribution will support a wide range of programs, including
housing environment improvements such as renovations of aging homes, the
establishment of small libraries in juvenile detention centers, and scholarship
assistance for current and former students of juvenile facilities.
This year’s expanded sponsorship will also fund newly introduced
initiatives such as child support and counseling services for families in
crisis, provision of daily necessities for facility residents, and the creation
of facilities to support cognitive training for elderly individuals under
protective care.
A KT&G representative stated, “To help protection beneficiaries
reintegrate into society in a healthy and stable way, we have expanded both the
scale of our sponsorship and the scope of our support programs this year.
KT&G remains committed to carrying out tailored social responsibility
initiatives in close cooperation with the Ministry of Justice to support the
self-reliance of marginalized groups.”
Since 1998, KT&G has consistently provided donations to the
Ministry of Justice, marking 28 years of uninterrupted support. Through these
efforts, the company has contributed to improving the residential environment
of protected individuals, enhancing crime prevention infrastructure,
stabilizing the emotional well-being of at-risk youth, and creating meaningful
employment opportunities.
