KT&G (CEO Bang Kyung-man)’s SangSang Madang is hosting a retro-style pop-up store titled Korean Retro Café at its Hongdae Design Square location through June 29.

This pop-up store is a collaboration with Little Tempo Design, a studio known for running unique illustration-based brands such as “AJASSI” and “100ban Design.”

Visitors to the pop-up store can explore a wide range of retro-inspired merchandise designed in the style of old Korean cafés—featuring newly launched items such as keyrings and glass cups inspired by nostalgic elements like old-school tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and rotary phones.

A representative from Hongdae KT&G SangSang Madang stated, “We are opening this pop-up store to offer visitors a unique and sentimental glimpse into the charm of past eras,” adding, “SangSang Madang will continue to offer diverse programs to enrich visitors’ cultural experiences.”

Meanwhile, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, KT&G SangSang Madang continues to operate a wide range of cultural programs aimed at supporting the creative activities of emerging artists. Since its launch as an online community in 2005, SangSang Madang has expanded into five offline multi-cultural spaces in Hongdae, Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan. Through various initiatives—including support for emerging artists and contributions to the development of local arts and culture—it strives to broaden public access to cultural experiences. KT&G SangSang Madang attracts around 3.2 million visitors annually and hosts over 3,000 artistic and cultural programs every year.
