KT&G (CEO Bang Kyung-man) is accepting submissions for the 17th Great Short Film Festival through May 31.
Hosted by KT&G SangSang Madang, the Great Short Film
Festival is a leading cultural contribution program that has supported and
discovered Korea’s most promising short films since its launch in 2007.
Eligible works must be short films under 20 minutes in
length. Films selected through the preliminary screening will be presented at
KT&G SangSang Madang Cinema from September 3 to 8. During the screening
period, awards will be presented to outstanding films based on audience
evaluations and a panel of expert judges.
Following last year’s initiative, the festival this year
will feature the Production Support Project, aimed at identifying exceptional
short film screenplays. Selected works will receive a production grant of ₩10
million.
Details on applications and more information about the
program are available on the KT&G SangSang Madang website
(www.sangsangmadang.com).
KT&G Cinema Manager Na Chang-hyeon stated, “The Great
Short Film Festival has served as a launchpad for emerging directors and actors
over the past 18 years, recognizing achievements in 57 categories including
Best Director and Best Actor. We look forward to welcoming many talented filmmakers
again this year.”
KT&G SangSang Madang celebrates its 20th anniversary
this year and continues to run diverse cultural programs to support the
creative activities of emerging artists. Since beginning as an online community
in 2005, KT&G SangSang Madang has expanded to operate five offline cultural
complexes in Hongdae, Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan. The platform
carries out various activities to broaden the public’s access to cultural
experience, supporting upcoming artists and promoting local art and culture.
KT&G SangSang Madang attracts around 3.1 million visitors annually and
