On October 8, KT&G (CEO Bang Kyung-man) hosted a demo day for its SangSang Startup Camp program, which discovers and nurtures young entrepreneurs, at KT&G SangSang Planet in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. Selected in June, 10 teams from Season 10 of SangSang Startup Camp were given a chance to share their business models and achievements developed over about four months of expert mentoring and competency-building training. The participating teams presented their business models and future visions to venture capitalists in attendance, creating opportunities to attract investment and strengthen their networks through mutual exchange. The top three teams selected through expert evaluations received personalized, one-on-one advisory services from investment professionals on strategies for attracting investment. This year, marking the 10th anniversary of SangSang Startup Camp, KT&G also looked back on the program’s achievements over the past decade and outlined its commitment to continued support for the youth entrepreneurship ecosystem by redefining the future direction and vision of its entrepreneurship support initiatives. A KT&G representative stated, “The SangSang Startup Camp demo day is a meaningful occasion that demonstrates how young entrepreneurs’ innovative ideas can develop into business models that create social value. We remain committed to providing steadfast support to help startups with creative ideas establish stable businesses and contribute to creating sustainable jobs.” KT&G SangSang Startup Camp was launched in 2017 to identify and foster young entrepreneurs. Through the end of last year, the program had completed ten cohorts and supported 192 teams. Participating teams have generated KRW 31.4 billion in cumulative sales and secured KRW 13.1 billion in cumulative investment. In recognition of these achievements, KT&G received the Presidential Commendation for Contributions to the Social Economy in 2021 and the Presidential Commendation for Contributions to Job Creation in 2022.
