KT&G Recognized as a Leading Company in CDP Climate Change and Water Security Categories
Achieves “Leadership” rating in both categories for four consecutive years;
named to the Carbon Management Honors Club
KT&G (CEO Bang Kyung-man) has been recognized by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a global environmental disclosure organization, as a leading company in climate action and water security management.
KT&G has achieved a “Leadership” rating in both climate change and water security categories for four consecutive years. In particular, in the climate change category, the company was also named to the Carbon Management Honors Club, awarded to only the top five companies.
KT&G has established a mid- to long-term environmental management vision, “2030 Green Impact,” and is implementing ESG initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire value chain. The company has systematically managed environmental risks across its value chain, including securing official validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its net-zero targets, and has strengthened the credibility and transparency of its greenhouse gas emissions data through third-party verification across its supply chain.
In the area of water security, KT&G is targeting a 20% reduction in water usage by 2030 compared with 2020 levels, across its domestic and overseas manufacturing operations. The company is also promoting systematic environmental management through expanded use of renewable energy, enhanced water recycling, and improved energy efficiency.
A KT&G official stated, “We have been recognized as a CDP leading company for our climate action aligned with global standards and our systematic water management capabilities. We will continue to accelerate the transition to a circular economy and advance ESG management in line with global standards.”
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is a global non-profit organization established in the United Kingdom in 2000 that collects, analyzes, and evaluates environmental disclosure data from major companies worldwide. CDP assessments are widely recognized as key sustainability indicators used by global investors and financial institutions and are regarded as a credible benchmark for ESG evaluation.
