KT&G (CEO Bang Kyung-man) SangSang Madang is now accepting applications for the “17th KT&G Sangsangmadang Korean Photographer’s Fellowship (SKOPF),” a support program dedicated to Korean photographers, until April 10. KT&G SKOPF is an artist support program launched by KT&G SangSang Madang in 2008 to discover and nurture emerging photographers. To date, it has supported a total of 54 artists and has become a gateway for aspiring photographers. Applicants can submit the required documents, including an application form and portfolio, through the official KT&G SangSang Madang website. The selection process will be conducted by expert judges from the culture and arts sector, who will choose three “Photographers of the Year” in May through a first-round portfolio screening and a second-round in-depth interview. The final “Photographer of the Year” will be chosen in December through an open portfolio screening. The three “Photographers of the Year” will each receive KRW 7 million in support, including an activity grant, mentorship, and participation in a group exhibition. In addition, the final “Photographer of the Year” will receive KRW 5 million in support, along with additional benefits worth approximately KRW 40 million, including assistance for production, publication, and a solo exhibition. “KT&G SKOPF has been going on for over 15 years to discover emerging photographers that will lead Korea’s photography scene,” said Kim Jeong-yun, Deputy Head of Exhibitions at KT&G's Cultural Contribution Department. “We will continue to support sustainable growth and nurture up-and-coming artists.” KT&G SangSang Madang serves as a multifaceted cultural and artistic space, supporting the creative activities of emerging artists while offering diverse cultural experiences to the public. Since starting with the online SangSang Madang in 2005, the platform has expanded to five locations, including Hongdae, Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the development of local arts and culture as well as the broadening of artistic and cultural engagement. KT&G SangSang Madang hosts over 3,000 cultural and artistic programs every year.
