KT&G (CEO Bang Kyung-man) announced that its SangSang Madang platform will host a cultural support program for local artists in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, beginning on January 10 at the KT&G SangSang Madang Chuncheon Art Center. As part of its ongoing efforts to revitalize local arts and culture, KT&G has selected photographer Shim Sang-man and musician Cho Jin-hee, both active in the Gangwon region, to present free exhibitions and performances. Shim is known for capturing everyday scenes with a restrained, refined visual language that resonates with a broad audience. Meanwhile, Cho has drawn attention for an experimental musical style that freely crosses genre boundaries. Their participation highlights the program’s focus on both artistic depth and creative diversity. Shim’s photography exhibition will run from January 14 to 28, with a special artist talk scheduled for January 17. Cho’s performances will be held twice, on January 10 and 17, and will include special collaborative stages. Lee Seong-gil, Director of the SangSang Madang Chuncheon Center, stated, “This program is a chance like no other, as we’re able to support artists who are rooted in the Chuncheon community and offer cultural programs that the public can easily enjoy. We will continue to expand SangSang Madang’s role as a regional hub by developing content that provides a strong foundation for artists’ growth.” KT&G SangSang Madang serves as a multifaceted cultural and artistic space, supporting the creative activities of emerging artists while offering diverse cultural experiences to the public. Since opening its first venue in Hongdae in 2005, the platform has expanded to five locations, including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the development of local arts and culture as well as the broadening of artistic and cultural engagement. KT&G SangSang Madang hosts over 3,000 cultural and artistic programs every year.
