KT&G Sangsang Madang Nonsan was opened in June 2011 following one in front of Hongik University in Seoul to upgrade cultural infrastructure in the region and provide the youths in the local community opportunities to have creative experiences and education while at the same time giving more room for new artists in Korea to exert their abilities.
Transformed into a suburb cultural space from a closed-down elementary school (Hancheon Elementary School) through remodeling, Sangsang Madang Nonsan is the first-ever culture & art space in the region encouraging community participation, consisting of gallery, media room, photo studio, multi-purpose hall, seminar room, café, accommodation facilities and outdoor installation artworks. It holds various local culture & art programs such as “Barista Experience”, “Sangsang Story” and “Contests (essay contest, drawing contest)” etc and a variety of experience programs inviting people from all walks of life, especially university students, youths and families, to provide the local community opportunities to enjoy culture and art.
KT&G Sangsang Art Hall was opened in November 2006 in Cosmo Tower Building (3F) close to Samsung Subway Station (Gangnam), having a total of 420 seats. The art hall can accommodate diverse genres of art performances including plays, concerts and musicals. Famous plays such as “Liar,” “The Scent of Love,” “Just For You,”concerts “Son Ho-young,” “Broccoli, You Too,” and musicals “Hedwig,” “Toxic Hero,” “Without You” etc have been performed so far. Not only that, it also supports innovative performances. It values customer satisfaction by providing world-class facilities and services.
KT&G Sangsang Univ. started as a culture & art community for university students in April 2010. Afterwards, it took firm root as Korea’s No. 1 university students com munity incorporating culture, art, marketing, recruitment and volunteer services, encouraging their passion and challenges.
KT&G Sangsang Univ. provides and holds differentiated classes, tutoring, contest and volunteer activities in 13 major cities nationwide, supporting university students in expressing their imagination, experiencing joy and exploring new possibilities.
